A few months ago, Ontario resident Mike Plas was reunited with his dog, Jack. Jack had gone missing for four long years, and Mike was ecstatic to have finally found him.
Mike, who hails from Kakabeka Falls, Ontario, Canada, received a very important phone call on September 20, 2019. Centennial Animal Shelter in Winnipeg, Canada, asked Mike if he owned a dog named Jack. When Mike explained that Jack went missing four years earlier in Thunder Bay, Ontario, Centennial Shelter informed him they had found his dog. Centennial Animal Shelter found Mike’s number on Jack’s microchip.
When Mr. Plas heard the great news, he contacted his girlfriend. Then Mike decided to also reach out to his sister and his sister’s husband to help him and his girlfriend. Mike’s dog was four hundred miles away in the Winnipeg shelter. Mike and his family drove the four hundred miles and, after eight long hours of driving, arrived at the Winnipeg Animal Shelter the next day. After verifying his identity and showing a photograph of Jack, Mike was finally reunited with his beloved dog.
Mike said as soon as the Centennial Shelter staff brought Jack out to him, everything resumed back to normal. Mike confirmed a few unique characteristics Jack had just to make sure it was him. Mike admitted life without Jack had never been the same, and he couldn’t believe they were finally reunited. Mr. Plas told his Facebook followers never to give up hope in finding a missing pet. Mike testified that even after four years and different provinces, the Ontario man and his dog were reunited.
The Centennial Animal Shelter also wrote on their Facebook page that Mike and Jack’s reunion was one of the sweetest moments they had experienced. You can see the emotional reunion of Mike and Jack in a video clip below:
